This restaurant has really fresh, delicious food. the atmosphere was great for us and our kids, as well as many other groups of people, who all seemed to enjoy themselves just as much as us. The staff was extremly friendly and Big D is fun to chat with. We were on exuma one week and we ate here 4 times. you have to come and experience it for yourself !!!
Great food at a reasonable price. My husband & I each had a conchburger and agreed Big D’s makes the best conchburger on the island. After we finished lunch, we hung out on the beach at Big D’s for awhile – just beautiful!
…and he only had the chicken. I had the conch salad and it was fantastic. (I had been a vegetarian for 9 years up until I arrived at Big D’s.) I lost it and loved it. Another son had cracked conch, and another had grouper. My wife had grouper and we all had a good time. Big D is genuinely a good guy as are all of the people who work or hang out there. The view is lovely. The kids went outside while the food was prepared and gave us a chance to enjoy our Kalik and Bahama Mama in peace. This was in April. We are going back in July (can’t wait) and Big D’s is on the itinerary.
Located approx. 5 minutes drive from Grand Isle Resort and Spa. Great location (right besides the water on the beach)!
Menu is basic but contains enough choices for the seafood lover. Fish and conch a plenty. I ordered the Conch sandwich and found it enjoyable and tender. It was not rubbery like other places where I had conch. This has been the only restaurant so far on Great Exuma that we saw plantains on the menu.
If you sit indoors, there is no AC but screened windows and doors to keep out the insects although there will still be a few flies around. Compared to sitting outside where you may be swarmed as soon as your food arrives.
